Reiki Healing
Reiki is an ancient form of energy healing, based on the teachings of Mikao Usui. Its origins are believed to trace back thousands of years, with roots in Tibetan healing practices. In the late 1800s, Dr. Usui, a Japanese educator in Kyoto, rediscovered and brought forward the system of healing we now know as Reiki.
After years of studying healing methods around the world, including travels to China, India, and the United States, he undertook a 21-day meditation and fasting retreat on Mount Kurama in Japan. During this time, he received the symbols and knowledge that form the foundation of Reiki today.
The word Reiki (pronounced “Ray-Key”) translates to “Universal Life Energy.” It is made up of two parts: “Rei,” meaning universal or spiritual wisdom, and “Ki,” meaning life force energy. This same energy is known as “Chi” in Chinese traditions, “Prana” in Sanskrit, and “Mana” in Hawaiian cultures.
Reiki is not tied to any religion or belief system. It works alongside both medical treatments and personal spiritual practices. It is a gentle yet effective form of energy healing that supports the body’s natural ability to restore balance.
During a Reiki session, energy is guided through the practitioner to the recipient, either through light touch or just above the body. This process helps to balance the energy centers, often referred to as chakras, and to release areas where energy may feel blocked or stagnant. As the energy begins to flow more freely, the body is supported in reducing stress, increasing vitality, and returning to a more natural state of well-being.
Karuna® Reiki
Karuna® Reiki evolved from the foundations of Usui and Tibetan Reiki and is often considered a deeper extension of traditional Reiki practice.
To practice Karuna® Reiki, one must first be trained as a Master/Teacher in Usui Reiki. The energy of Karuna® Reiki is often experienced as stronger and more expansive, working with a wider range of healing symbols.
The word “Karuna” means compassionate action. This form of Reiki emphasizes healing through compassion, allowing energy to flow where it is most needed. The practitioner serves as a channel, gently guiding this energy to support the recipient on a deeper level.
Animal Reiki
Animals respond to Reiki in a very natural and open way.
During a session, animals often enter a deep state of relaxation as Reiki supports the release of imbalances and encourages a return to harmony. Reiki is traditionally offered hands-off when working with animals, allowing them to receive the energy in a way that feels safe and comfortable for them.
They instinctively take what they need, at their own pace.
What to Expect
Your session begins with a brief welcome and conversation, allowing us to connect and discuss your needs.
You will then be invited to lie down on a comfortable massage table, remaining fully clothed, with the exception of your shoes. For your comfort, you may be asked to remove jewelry and wear loose, comfortable clothing.
Sessions take place in a calm and relaxing environment, often accompanied by soft music, gentle lighting, candles, or aromatherapy to support your experience.
During the session, many people experience a deep sense of relaxation and peace. You may feel warmth from the practitioner’s hands, notice sensations of energy moving through the body, or see colors or images. Each experience is unique, but all are part of the body’s natural healing response.
After your session, we take time to discuss anything that may have come up, including sensations, emotions, or areas where energy felt blocked. This awareness can help you recognize patterns that may be affecting your well-being and support you in moving forward with greater clarity.
A full session, including our initial conversation, typically lasts between 60 and 90 minutes.
